PC-Com Basic

April 30th, 2011 No comments

PC-Com gives you an easier and faster alternative to use your computer. You can use it on your home computer, laptop, or business computer. Instead of double-clicking icons on your desktop, and searching for programs in your Start Menu, you can quickly load anything on your computer or the internet from PC-Com.

PC-Com is a program launcher that lets you open files, folders, and websites by typing keywords. When you want to open something, all you have to do is press a hotkey (semicolon) on your keyboard, type a keyword, and press enter. For example, typing aol as a keyword will open America Online; typing word as a keyword will open Microsoft Word; typing yahoo.com will open http://www.yahoo.com. You can just type the first couple letters of a keyword and still access it by pressing enter.

There´s more to PC-Com than just keywords. You can open websites (typing google.com will take you to http://www.google.com), and you can open files and folders (example: c:\program files). You can also use letter commands to search the internet (example: s:mp3s), look up a word in a dictionary or a thesaurus, find related web sites, and shut down or restart your computer.

PC-Com is only visible when you press a hotkey and type a keyword. The toolbar disappears after you press Enter. This provides even more convenience and work space for you.

Features:

  • Press a global hotkey (semicolon by default) for quick access to PC-Com.
  • Open files, folders, and websites by typing keywords or by typing the actual location/URL.
  • Direct access to files and folders. PC-Com does not index files and search for them.
  • Type commands to get the memory usage, activate the screensaver, shut down your computer…
  • Type functions to change the display settings of a window.
  • You can hide any window, set a window on top, make a window translucent…
  • Use letter commands to search the web, look up a word in a dictionary, and more.
  • Record macros to automate your repetitive computer tasks.
  • Create notes on your desktop; set reminders
  • Extremely fast and low in memory usage.

nMacro Recorder

April 30th, 2011 No comments

nMacro allows you to record both keyboard and mouse actions and then save them as standalone executables, which you can run to reproduce recorded actions on same system or on other systems. It works by hooking all messages sent by mouse actions and key actions. Then it save it and binds it to an exe so that when the stand alone executable is run it will play the recorded messages and so reproduce the mouse and keyboard actions.

In order to start recording first you need to set where do you want the output to be saved and its name. This is the executable that will result from the recording. You can do this by writing the path in the Save Record As field or by clicking the browse button next to it. Once you´ve set the output path you can start recording or you can set a password that will be required every time you run the output before playing recorded events. Also here you have an options to disable all keyboard input (except for CTRL+ALT+DEL that will stop play) during the playing of the recorded events from the output. The password and this last option are both optional.

To begin recording all you have to do is press the red Start Recording button after you´ve set the output path and name. To stop recording just press CTRL+BREAK or click on the applications tray icon.

NOTICE: In order to reproduce recorded actions on other computer you must make sure it has the same screen resolution as the system the actions were recorded on, in order for the mouse actions be reproduce exactly. If you´re not sure of this detail or of the exact alignment of the other systems icons you can record only keyboard events.

Also please take into consideration loading times which may be different each time you play recorded events.

WinKeySim

April 29th, 2011 No comments

WinKeySim gives keyboard macro support for practically any Windows program that supports keyboard input. Generally speaking, if it can be done with the keyboard, it can be done with a WinKeySim macro. WinKeySim works by simulating keystrokes to your target Windows application. The target application believes that the user has manually typed in the keystrokes using the keyboard when, in fact, the keystrokes are being fed into the keyboard buffer by WinKeySim.

Your macros are always available to you via a popup context menu when you right click the mouse on the WinKeySim icon, which is placed in the System Tray next to the system clock usually located on the lower right hand corner of the screen in Windows. To use your macro, you select it from the popup context menu and then click on your target application window where you wish WinKeySim to simulate the keystrokes that you defined in your macro definition.

DiskInternals Linux Reader

April 28th, 2011 No comments

DiskInternals Linux Reader is a newly developed software tool for providing access to Linux file systems under Windows. You can use it whenever you want: the program is 100% free. It lets you use a familiar ambience of Windows Explorer for extracting information from Ext2/Ext3 file systems. The only type of access possible here is read-only mode. It prevents you from interference with Linux and guarantees stable work of your OS.

There are a number of evident merits of the program, which you should know. The program provides for read-only access and does not allow you to make records in Ext2/Ext3 file system partitions. This guarantees that the interference in an alterative file system will not affect the work of Linux later.

Apart from this, it is necessary to note, that it gives you an opportunity to use common Windows Explorer for extracting data. A preview option for pictures is one more pleasant point, which is worth mentioning.
While saving, it ignores file security policies. It means that it is possible to access absolutely any file on a Linux disk from Windows. The program can create and open images of Ext2/Ext3 disks.

Lifextender

April 27th, 2011 No comments

Lifextender is a dead-simple commercial-removal application designed exclusively for Windows Vista Media Center users. There is ZERO configuration required, however, there are plenty of options if that´s your thing.

Lifextender is pretty simple. It scans the directory that Media Center records TV to every X minutes for new TV shows. All new TV shows are queued up to be analyzed and scanned for annoying commercials. After a show has been analyzed, a new file is created from the original with commercials cut out, around 3/4 the original size. The original show is then replaced by the new, commercial-free show. Rinse and repeat.
